The parade grounds at Fort East Martello have been renovated.

The Key West Art & Historical Society says that’s reason for a celebration.

A private ribbon-cutting will be held, followed by a concert at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4. featuring G. Love, with Chuck Treece.

That free concert stars acclaimed hiphop blues singer and guitarist Garrett Dutton, known to most as G. Love, founder and frontman of the band G. Love and Special Sauce.

Skate rock musician Chuck Treece will join Dutton on stage, with the two playing from his 27-year genre-bending catalog of music, including his 2019 Grammy-nominated album, “The Juice.”

Produced in collaboration with COAST Projects, the ceremony is being held to mark the end of Monroe County’s

Phase II drainage and water mitigation project supporting the preservation of the Civil War-era fort, a project sponsored by a more than a half-million-dollar grant from the Monroe County Tourist Development Council.

Parade ground gates open at 5 p.m., with an opening performance by local favorite Cayman Smith-Martin at 6 p.m.. Admission is free with Monroe County ID; $20 for nonlocals. All concertgoers, whether free or paid, must preregister by noon Nov. 3 at www.coastisclearfest.com. Low-back chairs and blankets are welcome. COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed, including a cap on preregistrations and ticket sales. Rain or shine. Limited parking is available; bicycling encouraged. Fort East Martello’s parade grounds are at 3501 S. Roosevelt Blvd., Key West. ¦
