On Tuesday, Dec. 31, Dachshunds, Dachshund impersonators and their human companions paraded through downtown streets lined with adoring fans during the 15th annual Key West Dachshund Walk. People and pets were invited to gather at noon at the corner of Fleming and Whitehead streets before undertaking a three-block journey, which proceeded down Fleming Street to Duval Street to Appelrouth Lane and back to Whitehead Street. Costumes were encouraged, as were donations of dog and cat food for the Community Pet Pantry. The annual Key West Dachshund Walk was one of the final events of the island-wide Key West Holiday Fest, which ran through the month of December and was presented in part by the Lodging Association of the Florida Keys & Key West and the Monroe Country Tourist Development Council.
